From May 23-26, the Huawei ICT Competition Global Final 2023-2024 was held in Shenzhen, China. More than 170,000 students from 2,000 higher educational institutions across Kazakhstan, Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Thailand, Kenya, Egypt, China, and other countries participated.
The Huawei ICT Competition is one of the largest and most prestigious international educational platforms in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). The competition aims to identify and support talented students who can significantly contribute to the development of their countries’ digital economies. It also promotes knowledge sharing and cultural interaction among participants from various countries, fostering a global community of ICT professionals.
In the “Computing” category, the 1st place was won by a team from Kazakhstan, comprising Utebai Oralbai, a student of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Yessenov University, and Nikolay Zhilyakov, a student of the Almaty University of Energy and Communications. Students from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and SDU secured 1st place in the “Cloud” category among 37 teams.
It is worth noting that Yessenov University student Utebai Oralbai won the Grand Prix at the international “Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024” held in Bahrain in December 2023. In 2022, Huawei ICT Academy was established at Yessenov University, offering students free opportunities to gain knowledge and develop practical IT skills.
The participation of students from Kazakhstan in such a prestigious international competition as the Huawei ICT Competition is a significant step in advancing ICT education in the country. It not only enhances the training level of specialists but also strengthens Kazakhstan’s position on the global stage.
