On April 3, Yessenov University launched the second stream of its integrated tourism course aimed at training tour guides. The course is conducted under the Institute of Continuing Education and is designed for learners of elegant age within the framework of the Silver University program.
The main goal of the course is to support the development of the tourism sector in the Mangystau region, as well as to promote its sacred sites and natural landmarks. Special emphasis is placed on building professional competencies in the field of tour guiding.
As part of the course, participants learn how to prepare and conduct guided tours, design excursion routes, and compile a professional portfolio. The “Tour Guiding” module is taught by Zhuldyz Nizamatdinova, Master of Geographical Sciences and Senior Lecturer of the Department of International Relations and Tourism at the Faculty of Tourism and Languages.
The practical part of the course included a field excursion along the following route:
Aktau – Shetpe village (Serikbol Kondybay Memorial Museum) – Sherkala Mountain – Ayrakty Valley of Balls – Aktau.
This hands-on format allows participants not only to gain theoretical knowledge, but also to apply it in real-life situations, immersing themselves in the dynamic context of tour guiding.
The course has become not only an educational but also an inspiring initiative, opening new opportunities for self-fulfillment among older adults while contributing to the preservation and promotion of the cultural and natural heritage of the Mangystau region.
