At Yessenov University, the Faculty of Tourism and Languages, under the organization of Associate Professor of the Department of Kazakh Philology A.T. Zhetkizgenova, hosted a round table dedicated to Tursyn Zhurtbai’s work “Kunanbai” (A Historical and Literary Figure).
The event, marking the 180th anniversary of the birth of the spiritual pillar of our nation — the great thinker, enduring voice of the Kazakh people, poet, and educator Abai Kunanbaiuly — brought together university faculty and students.
During the discussion, participants conducted a comparative analysis of the historical truth about Kunanbai presented in the research of writer and Doctor of Philology Tursyn Zhurtbai, and the artistic interpretation depicted in the works of Mukhtar Auezov.
Special attention was given to the significance of Kunanbai as one of the leading figures in Kazakhstan’s history, as well as to the value of the book “Kunanbai”, based on archival documents, previously unknown manuscripts, memoirs, and notes, offering a wealth of fascinating facts.
