During the third session of the National Kurultai, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev referenced the teachings of prominent Kazakhstani figure Abish Kekilbayev as an example for his contemporaries and the younger generation.
Ahead of the 85th anniversary of the esteemed Kazakhstani writer, statesman, and public figure, Hero of Labor Abish Kekilbayev, scholars and educators from Yesenov University published the third collection of his works titled “Dauren Keshken.”
Abish Kekilbayev began his literary journey as a poet and continued to produce poetry until the end of his life. However, he refrained from publishing his writings for many years. Previously unpublished works have been meticulously collected and organized in this book, with some pieces having been previously featured in the media but not included in collections.
The collection was published as part of the grant project “The Creative Works of Abish Kekilbayev in the Context of Modernization of Public Consciousness,” funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was curated and authored by the project manager, Professor at Yessenov University Adilet Kabylov, and PhD student Baktybai Zhailauov.
“We conducted thorough research on the works written by the poet in the fifties, sixties, nineties, and the twenty-first century. The poems from his notebook were introduced to literary circles for the first time, capturing the attention of readers. Each poem reflects the state of our country during its respective period. Abish Kekilbayev’s works are impactful and our research in this field will persist,” noted PhD student Baktybai Zhailauov.
On April 16, a presentation of the new book took place as part of the Science Day celebrations. The event was attended by scholars, intellectuals, and public figures, imbuing the occasion with significant spiritual value. The new book has already found eager readers. Congratulations!
