On April 2, Yessenov University held the official opening ceremony of the research and training classroom named after the distinguished geologist, Lenin Prize laureate, and professor of Yessenov University, Valentin Petrovich Tokarev. The event marked the centenary of his birth.

The ceremony was organized with the support of the Society of Petroleum Geologists of Kazakhstan, the Mangystau Geological Inspection, and Yessenov University. The ribbon-cutting was performed by Izbergen Kubekbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Society of Geologists, and Arman Rakushyuly Zhanakhmet, Head of the NCOC office in Aktau. The classroom has been equipped with modern laboratory facilities sponsored by NCOC.

University President Berik Bakhytzhanuly Akhmetov noted that the opening of this classroom provides significant opportunities for conducting scientific research and academic work in the fields of geology and paleontology.

Among the honored guests were veteran geologist Sagyn Yerkasuly Kyrymkulov, Deputy Akim of the Mangystau region Abbat Zhangirkhanuly Orisbayev, Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Geologists of Kazakhstan Baltabek Mukhanovich Kuandykov, as well as other industry veterans.

As part of the celebration, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Secrets of the Subsoil: Achievements and Prospects of Geological Science” was held. The event was also dedicated to the 90th anniversary of renowned exploration geologist Adil Moldashuly Nurmanov, who discovered several of Mangystau’s major oil fields.

The conference addressed current advancements in geology, the integration of digital technologies in the oil and gas sector, and key issues of operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
