As part of the national “Taza Kazakhstan” environmental initiative, Yessenov University launched the multifunctional greenhouse “YESSENOV JYLYJAIY”, aimed at commercializing the results of scientific and technological research to support the development of “Community Gardens”.
The greenhouse began operations in 2019. On its cultivated soil plots, a variety of herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers are grown. This year, seeds of the Japanese sophora tree were also planted as part of a new ecological initiative.
The key objectives of the Yessenov Greenhouse include:
Human capital development in the agro-industrial sector of the Mangystau region by fostering research skills and cultivating scientific culture among students. Biology students at Yessenov University conduct research and complete thesis projects in the greenhouse throughout the academic year.
Enhancing productivity and producing eco-friendly crops through the effective use of materials and innovative technologies, particularly focused on the theme: “Advancing practical approaches to greenhouse management in the climatic conditions of Mangystau region.”
In addition, on December 2, 2024, the university opened a “Youth Park” on campus. This open-air recreational area is designed for student leisure, cultural events, and entertainment programs. The park features an amphitheater, a fountain, and a 50-seat café. With over 3,000 trees, it is open not only to students, but to the wider community of Aktau.
