Heydar Aliyev and Kazakhstan: Leadership, Legacy, and Contemporary Relevance

On December 5, Yessenov University hosted the scholarly and practical conference
“Heydar Aliyev and Kazakhstan: Leadership, Legacy, and Contemporary Relevance,”
dedicated to commemorating the national leader of the Azerbaijani people — Heydar Aliyev.

The event was held in a hybrid format, bringing together scholars, diplomats, public figures, and students from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and other partner countries.
The conference was organized by the Azerbaijan Center of Yessenov University and the Department of International Relations with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Aktau.

Among the distinguished guests were the Consuls General of friendly and brotherly nations:
Ayhan Suleymanli — Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan,
Sabri Alptekin — Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye,
Gholomreza Hashemi — Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran,
Mereddurdy Abdullaev — Consul General of Turkmenistan,
Zhamoliddunkhuja Abdukarimov — Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The conference was moderated by Ilkin Orudjov, Director of the Azerbaijan Center and Senior Lecturer at the Department of International Relations.

During the plenary session, scholars from both countries delivered analytical presentations exploring Heydar Aliyev’s political and spiritual legacy, as well as his pivotal role in strengthening Azerbaijan–Kazakhstan cooperation and fostering bonds among Turkic nations.

As part of the event, a book exhibition titled
“The Transformative Life and Work of Heydar Aliyev”
was organized, showcasing publications on his state service, leadership, and historical contribution to the development of modern Azerbaijan.

The conference concluded in a warm and collegial atmosphere, with participants and students continuing informal discussions, sharing insights, and exploring ideas for future collaborative initiatives.
