Course on “Learning Dactyl and Sign Languages”

Starting April 21 of this year, the Institute of Continuing Education launched a professional development course titled “Learning Dactyl and Sign Languages” for students of the Faculty of Education. The course is led by Zholdybaeva Gauhar Murakovna, a senior lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy, a defectologist at a regional special boarding school, and an expert educator with extensive experience in inclusive education.

The goal of the course is to train teachers, specialists, and support staff in dactyl (finger spelling) and sign language in order to understand the communicative needs of individuals with hearing impairments. It also aims to develop skills in conveying information through signs and establishing effective communication with people who have hearing and speech impairments.

As part of the course, participants will study the sign language alphabet (dactyl), basic vocabulary, grammatical structures, and the rules for using the language in communication. In addition, they will become familiar with strategies for using sign language in various social and educational contexts.

The course combines theory and practice, promoting the development of creativity, as well as visual and motor memory among participants. Upon completion, attendees will become skilled professionals capable of effectively interacting with children and adults with hearing impairments and confidently working in an inclusive environment.
