On April 24, Yessenov University hosted a guest lecture on “Solving social problems by means of design: the experience of Bauhaus and VKhUTEMAS in the 20-30s” with the participation of curator and co-founder of the YEMAA Center for Contemporary Culture Assel Akhmetzhanova.
During the lecture, design was considered not only as a way to form a visual environment, but also as a potential for solving social problems and improving the quality of life of society. During the event, the unique experience of two leading design schools – Bauhaus and VKhUTEMAS – was explored.
The lecture participants discussed what lessons and principles of the period 20-30 can be applied in the modern context, when social issues remain important challenges for designers. The students listened to the lecture with interest, and then the guest answered all the questions of the participants of the event.
