On February 9, Yessenov University hosted a meeting for public discussion on the theme “Suicide is Spiritual Contamination” organized by the representative body of the Mangystau region.
The meeting was attended by regional representatives, local administration leaders, faculty, and students of the university, the Veterans Council, and non-governmental organization representatives.
A short film titled “Suicide is Spiritual Contamination” was screened at the event. Subsequently, Zhanbyrbai Matayev, the chairman of the regional council, Berik Akhmetov, President of Yessenov University, Madi Tokanov, director of the regional mental health management center, and Anuar Yelzhanov, the chief imam of the region, addressed the audience.
Participants in the public discussion shared their perspectives on one of the most pressing issues in contemporary society – self-harm, and presented their suggestions for addressing this concern.
