Президент Yessenov University Б.Б. Ахметов представил ежегодный отчёт перед общественностью

On December 5th, the President of Yessenov University, B.B. Akhmetov, delivered his annual Public Accountability Report.

Since the transition of Yessenov University into a non-profit joint-stock company, annual public reporting has become an important tradition of transparency and openness. We are pleased to present the key results of the university’s performance for the 2024–2025 academic year.

Yessenov University’s mission is to educate, inspire and promote research for the sustainable development of the Mangystau region. Our graduates contribute directly to the growth of new industries, digital transformation, lifelong learning, and the development of tourism across the Caspian region-fulfilling critical workforce needs and advancing regional progress.

Over the past seven years, the number of students has grown from 3,167 to more than 10,000 learners. Over 400 international students – from Africa to Eurasia – now enrich our multicultural campus environment.

The university employs more than 390 faculty members, including 199 with academic degrees. This year, over 30 highly qualified scholars joined us from leading national universities, further advancing our academic excellence.

Yessenov University now offers more than 100 academic programs, 79% of which are internationally accredited. In response to global trends, we launched the new Faculty of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, expanding offerings in IT, data analytics, AI, and automation. Programs in tourism, ecology, energy, engineering, oil and gas, business analytics, traditional music, and languages fully align with the strategic skills needed for Mangystau’s future development.

Our institutional progress is reflected in recognized international rankings:

  • QS World University Rankings 2026: #1201–1400
  • QS Asia: climbed 200 positions, now in the 451–460 place
  • National multi-disciplinary university ranking: from 18th place (2018) to 4th place
  • The only university in Kazakhstan to receive ACQUIN institutional accreditation with no remarks
  • Graduate employment rate: 92%

Research remains a strategic priority. The university is currently implementing 27 research projects totaling 6.1 billion KZT, including 13 projects under the “Young Scientist” program. Research funding has grown from 40 million KZT in 2020 to 2.2 billion KZT in 2024. Our teams deliver impactful results in Caspian Sea ecology, water desalination, petrochemistry, cultural heritage studies, and educational analytics.

Internationalization continues to accelerate:

  • 125 global partner institutions
  • 438 students participated in academic mobility programs
  • 36 international professors taught at YU this academic year
  • 9 dual-degree programs in operation
  • 20 researchers completed internships at top global universities through the “500 Scientists” initiative

Significant infrastructure upgrades have been completed:

  • Yessenov Technopark
  • 1,500-seat stadium
  • Stusents Park with nearly 5,000 trees planted

All projects were funded by the university’s own budget.

Our digital transformation initiatives continue to strengthen a student-centered ecosystem:

YU Otinish (anonymous digital appeals system), the unified ID.YU.EDU.KZ login platform, the YU Coins incentive system, the 01Edu IT school, and the YU FabLab – part of the international FabLab network – are shaping a modern digital campus culture.

These achievements reflect the collective effort of our faculty, administrative staff, and students. Yessenov University remains committed to contributing to the sustainable development of the Mangystau region and Kazakhstan by providing high-quality education, impactful research, and preparing responsible and capable future leaders.
