An international scientific meeting featuring foreign researchers was held at Yessenov University within the framework of the project “Disruption of the carbon cycle caused by lake drying.”
Participants discussed key environmental issues, including the declining water levels of the Caspian Sea, the drying up of water bodies, and their broader impacts on the carbon cycle and regional ecosystems.
A key milestone of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Yessenov University and the Center for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB-CSIC), part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
The parties explored opportunities for comparative studies of ecological processes in the Caspian Sea and similar phenomena in Spain and Europe, scientific data exchange, and joint research initiatives.
