Today, on October 14, an international scientific and practical conference titled “Scientific Renewal: The Legacy of a Personality” dedicated to the 95th anniversary of geologist and academician Shakhmardan Yessenov was held at Yessenov University, according to the press service of the Mangystau region akimat.
The event required serious preparation, as it brought together prominent guests, including the akim of Mangystau region Nurlan Nogayev, President of Yessenov University Berik Akhmetov, and other distinguished participants.
The anniversary events began with the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for a monument to Shakhmardan Yessenov.
Shakhmardan Yessenov was a Kazakh-Soviet geologist, a specialist in mineral resources, a public and state figure, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, and professor of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. He was a student of Kanysh Satbayev and made a significant contribution to geological exploration, including work on the Zhezkazgan mining region.
He authored more than 100 scientific works and participated in the creation of an expanded geological map of Kazakhstan published in 1965.
The main purpose of the conference was to discuss his scientific legacy, promote his ideas, and create a platform for educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and respect for science.
Several reports were presented during the conference, including topics related to the oil and gas sector of Kazakhstan and geological theories.
It is also worth noting that a museum dedicated to the academician was opened at the university this year. The museum presents materials reflecting his life and scientific activity.
