On October 7, an important and historic meeting took place at Yessenov University. A delegation from the Yessenov Foundation visited the university. The delegation included Maksutbek Shakhmardanuly Yessenov, the son of the outstanding Kazakh geologist, scientist, and statesman Shakhmardan Yessenov, the Foundation’s director Irina Grishchenko, as well as well-known sculptors and designers.

During the meeting, Yessenov University and the Shakhmardan Yessenov Foundation signed an agreement to install a monument dedicated to the academician and distinguished scientist Shakhmardan Yessenov. The opening of the monument is planned for 2027, in honor of the scientist’s 100th anniversary.

“In two years, Kazakhstan will celebrate the 100th anniversary of my grandfather, the outstanding scientist and statesman Shakhmardan Yessenov. In this regard, together with the Yessenov Foundation and family members, we decided to involve leading architects and sculptors in creating the monument. The Foundation will take responsibility for the project design, financing, installation of the monument, and the development of the surrounding public space. The monument will be installed in Mangystau, the region closely connected with his life and work, on the territory of Yessenov University in Aktau,” said Galymzhan Yessenov.

President of Yessenov University Berik Akhmetov noted that the monument will become a “point of strength” for future generations, allowing them to feel the spirit of a person who dedicated his life to science and the development of the country.

One of the special moments of the meeting was the awarding of Maksutbek Shakhmardanuly Yessenov, the son of the academician and a long-time member of the university’s Board of Directors, with the “Yessenov” badge for his significant contribution to the development of the university.

The project involves talented architects and designers, including Assel Yeszhanova, Chingiz Batyrbekov, and sculptor Meyram Baimukhanov. The preparation work has already begun.
