YESSENOV UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES A CALL FOR APPLIED RESEARCH PROJECTS UNDER THE GIZ PROGRESS INITIATIVE

Objective of the competition

 

To support innovative applied research aimed at addressing real industrial challenges faced by enterprises and promoting the integration of scientific developments into the economy of Kazakhstan.

 

Priority areas

 

• Renewable energy (RES);
• Hydrogen energy;
• Energy efficiency of buildings and structures;
• Energy systems and energy storage technologies;
• Industrial decarbonization;
• Green technologies and sustainable development.

 

Who can participate?

 

Employees and researchers of Yessenov University who implement projects in cooperation with enterprises in the energy sector are invited to participate.

 

A mandatory requirement of the competition is the presence of at least one industry partner interested in implementing the research results.

 

Funding

 

Winners of the competition will have the opportunity to attract funding for project implementation of up to 20,000 euros.

 

Eligible expenses may include:

 

• payment for expert services;
• consumables;
• conducting research and testing;
• publication of results;
• patenting of developments;

 

 

 

 

 

Evaluation criteria

 

Projects will be assessed based on the following criteria:

 

• scientific novelty;
• practical relevance for the industry;
• innovativeness and implementation potential;
• commercialization of results;
• economic efficiency;
• compliance with the principles of the green economy and sustainable development.

 

Competition stages

• 📅 Application submission: until June 30, 2026
• 📅 Submission of the best projects for international expert review: until July 10, 2026
• 📅 International evaluation of projects: July – August 2026
• 📅 Announcement of winners: by September 11, 2026
• 📅 Project implementation: October 2026 – September 2027
