On May 15, the Institute of Continuing Education of Yessenov University held the final session of the professional development course titled “Development of Teachers’ Career Guidance Competencies: Technologies of Pedagogical Support for Students’ Conscious Career Choice” at Yessenov University. This program became the first project of its kind implemented at the university and aimed at developing teachers’ competencies in career guidance.
During the course, school career guidance specialists improved their theoretical and practical skills in identifying students’ abilities and professional aptitudes, conducting diagnostics, and applying modern career guidance technologies. In addition, students of grades 8–11 were registered on the Steppe Navigator platform and completed specialized diagnostic assessments.
The program brought together 165 career guidance specialists from the cities of Aktau and Zhanaozen, as well as from the Mangystau, Munaily, Karakiya, Tupkaragan, and Beineu districts. Upon completion of the training, participants were awarded certificates.
As part of the final session, the winner of the “Best Career Guidance Specialist” nomination was honored, and the most active participants received letters of appreciation on behalf of the Deputy Akim of Mangystau Region and the Head of the Regional Education Department.
In addition, current trends and pressing issues in career guidance were discussed during the event. Dmitry Sudakov, Director of Steppe Navigator, delivered a presentation titled “Career Guidance Based on Data and Artificial Intelligence: Results of a Pilot Project in Mangystau Region.”
