Investigation of paraffin deposition processes in oil reservoirs of the Mangystau region

AP26101849 "Investigation of paraffin deposition processes in oil reservoirs of the Mangystau region"

Project Manager: Bayamirova Ryskol Umarovna

Project term:

2025-2027.

Funding amount:

119,668,457 (one hundred nineteen million six hundred sixty-eight thousand four hundred fifty-seven)

The purpose of the project:

The goal of the project is to study the physicochemical properties of oil and petroleum products, the conditions for asphaltic resinous paraffine sedimentsin (ARPS) in current reservoir conditions, and to find methods to enhance reservoir oil recovery.

Scientific novelty:

At this stage of the project, significant scientific results have been achieved, confirming the relevance of the problem of AFS deposition in reservoir conditions and forming the scientific basis for further applied research. Field information on the U-13 horizon was collected and analyzed, and a map of the current reservoir temperature was constructed, which made it possible to identify areas of the most intense cooling and potential precipitation of AFS. A retrospective analysis of the paraffin content in oil was carried out. A general decrease in its content in degassed oil was recorded, which may indicate the deposition of paraffins in the reservoir pore space. A methodological base for laboratory studies has been prepared, including the selection of sites for wellhead oil sampling, methods for estimating the crystallization temperature of paraffins. Scientific hypotheses have been formulated about the mechanisms of AFS formation in the reservoir, including the dependence of precipitation on thermobaric conditions, oil composition and the nature of water-oil interaction. The performance parameters will be evaluated in subsequent studies.
