According to the university press service, key discussions focused on the declining level of the Caspian Sea, the drying up of water reservoirs, and the impact of these processes on the carbon cycle and ecosystems.
As a result of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Yessenov University and the Blanes Centre for Advanced Studies (CEAB-CSIC), part of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
The parties explored opportunities for comparative studies of ecological processes in the Caspian Sea and similar processes in Spain and other European regions, sharing scientific data and expertise, as well as developing joint research projects.
