On February 2, Yessenov University hosted a round table discussion on the topic “The Draft of the New Constitution: Human Rights as the State’s Top Priority.” The event took place in the University Conference Hall.
The round table brought together faculty members, legal scholars, and university staff. The discussion was moderated by the President of Yessenov University, B.B. Akhmetov.
The purpose of the round table was to discuss the content of the Draft New Constitution, its strategic significance for the country, and the impact of constitutional reforms on strengthening public legal awareness, the development of the education system, and the upbringing of young people.
In his welcoming remarks, B.B. Akhmetov emphasized that the Draft New Constitution is aimed at modernizing Kazakhstan’s legal system, strengthening the principles of justice, and enhancing the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms.
The keynote presentation was delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Law and International Relations, Candidate of Legal Sciences D.B. Bugubay, who provided a detailed overview of the new provisions of the draft related to human rights protection and highlighted their significance for higher education and legal education. A presentation was also made by the Head of the Department of the Faculty of Law and International Relations, Candidate of Legal Sciences B.T. Auyeshova, who noted the role of constitutional reform in reinforcing the principles of the rule of law and improving the legal culture of citizens.
During the discussion, participants exchanged views and proposals on the Draft New Constitution and addressed current issues of legal education and youth engagement. As a result of the round table, it was noted that the ideas and recommendations expressed would be taken into account in the further planning of educational, developmental, and legal awareness activities at Yessenov University.
