According to 24KZ, a new educational program for advanced training in the hydrogen industry will be launched in Aktau. As part of this initiative, a group of lecturers from one of Germany’s leading universities has arrived to exchange expertise with their Kazakhstani colleagues. The visiting scholars will deliver lectures at the Kazakh-German Institute of Sustainable Engineering, which was established two years ago at the instruction of the President. The institute also plans to open master’s and doctoral programs in the future. At present, more than 100 students are enrolled there at the bachelor’s level.

In addition, the German scholars visited the construction site of a green hydrogen plant in Kuryk, where hydrogen will be produced using wind and solar energy. They are also expected to contribute to the further development of regional projects in the fields of energy and logistics.

Professor Hans Lüger Dienel of the Technical University of Berlin explained that the goal is to develop master’s and doctoral programs focused on sustainable energy development and environmental protection. He also noted that the partners are discussing a major research project on maritime infrastructure and the management of marine operations. Together with Kazakhstani researchers, they also plan to address ways of improving the ecological situation in the Caspian region. In his view, initiatives of this kind create important opportunities for launching large-scale scientific projects in Mangystau.

Project coordinator Berik Akhmetov stated that two projects are currently underway. The first, called Aktanten, is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany, with €1 million allocated over four years. The project focuses on how to bring the scientific potential of German researchers to Kazakhstan. The second project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan. It is a three-year megaproject that explores different methods for the storage, transportation, and delivery of green hydrogen
