Characteristics of the program
The task of the specialty is to equip the bachelors-builders with a system of knowledge about the behavior of buildings of various design schemes, under the influence of vertical and horizontal loads; to acquire skills of qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the bearing capacity of basic structures; instill sustainable skills in the calculation and design of buildings and their elements, as well as skills in manufacturing and assembling metal structures, building technology, engineering structures, in choosing optimal solutions for construction-installation works and etc. Preparation of bachelors in the specialization of “Calculation and design of buildings and structures” (hereinafter referred to as the CDBS) is carried out by the department “Construction. Students who received education in specialization will be engaged in the design and construction of industrial and civil buildings. Within the walls of the institute, they will study in full the basics of designing buildings and structures, methods for calculating them, and building technologies. Specialists qualified for these specializations can work in state enterprises and private companies in the construction industry (master, foreman, etc.). In addition, students can work as designers and researchers in design institutes and design bureaus, research institutes and departments.
The goal is to prepare bachelors for the construction industry who are able to design, build and operate civil, industrial and communal facilities.
Tasks – qualitatively perform calculations of elements and structures, qualitatively design technical solutions, develop technical tasks for construction and reconstruction, taking into account the requirements of ecology and safety of life in three types: training, production and pre-diploma.

– about scientific, philosophical and religious pictures of the universe; on the essence, purpose and meaning of human life; the diversity of forms of human knowledge; spiritual values in creative and daily life;
– about processes and phenomena occurring in animate and inanimate nature; the possibilities of modern scientific methods of cognition of nature for the solution of natural-science and professional problems;
– about the essence and social significance of their future profession, the importance of the disciplines that determine the specific field of its activity, their interrelationship in the integral system of knowledge;
– about the role of science in the development of civilization, the relationship of science and technology and the contemporary social and ethical problems associated with them, the value of scientific rationality;
– about tendencies of development of architecture, volume-planning, composite and constructive decisions of buildings and constructions; prospects of town planning, planning and development of territories;
– about the directions of improving the technology of production of building materials and products, the use of composite materials in construction;
– about engineering methods of geodetic, hydrogeological and ecological surveys;
– about the trends in the technology of erecting buildings and structures;
– about the main problems of water supply and sanitation, heat and gas supply and ventilation of buildings, facilities and populated areas;
– about the problems of environmental protection, ecology and life safety;
To know:
– fundamentals of architectural design, modern types of structures of buildings and structures;
– basic physical and mechanical properties of building materials, technology of their manufacture, methods of increasing the efficiency of use;
– methods of engineering survey in construction;
– the basics of creating water supply and sewerage systems, gas supply, ventilation, power supply to buildings and populated areas;
– basic concepts, laws, methods of engineering mechanics;
– origin, formation conditions, structure, composition and properties of base soils;
– basis for the calculation and design of buildings and structures, engineering systems;
– composition and content of project documentation;
– methods of theoretical and experimental studies of building structures, base soils;
– technology, organization, mechanization and automation of construction;
– the fundamentals of economic theory, the economy of the industry, management and marketing, accounting and auditing;
– issues of occupational safety and health, environmental legislation;
To be able to:
– use normative and legal documents related to professional activities;
– conduct conversation-dialogue in the state and foreign languages, to use the rules of speech etiquette, to read the literature on the specialty without a dictionary in order to search for information, translate texts with a dictionary, make annotations, abstracts and business letters in a foreign language;
– perform calculations of structures of buildings and structures, their bases and foundations, engineering systems, including using modern software products;
– develop design solutions that meet the requirements of the future development of the industry, using modern software products;
– plan repair and strengthening of parts of buildings and structures, modernization of engineering systems, networks and equipment;
– to analyze the production and economic activities of its division and / or the whole enterprise, including using modern software products;
– to control the technological and labor disciplines;
– use information technologies for information collection and application software packages in solving design and production tasks;
– to assess the technogenic impact of construction on eco-structures;
– evaluate and control the quality of construction and installation works;
– to perform acceptance and delivery of work performed;
Have the skills:
– knowledge of the state language and the language of interethnic communication; lexical and grammatical minimum of one of the foreign languages;
– on the basics of production relations and principles of management, taking into account technical, financial, psychological and human factors;
– work with software products, modern information technologies of search, collection, processing, analysis and storage of scientific and technical information;
– possession of architectural and construction, special and scientific terminology;
– work with the main normative and reference documents for the calculation, design of building structures, the bases of buildings and structures, heat and gas supply systems, ventilation, water supply and sewerage, organization of construction production;
– use of modern methods of inspection and testing of building materials, buildings and structures;
– be competent in matters of construction, architecture, engineering systems, management, economics, environmental protection;
– have the skills to handle modern technology, be able to use information technology in the field of professional activity;
– have the basics of economic knowledge, have scientific ideas about management, marketing, finance;
– possess the skills of economic and organizational decision-making in conditions of uncertainty and risk;
The graduate must have the following professional competences:
– know the main sections of fundamental disciplines necessary for professional work;
– promptly eliminate violations of production processes, keep primary records of work performed, analyze operational and current production indicators, justify proposals for improving management activities of production;
– be competent in the legislative and regulatory acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
– perform experimental and laboratory studies, interpret the results obtained, compile and protect reports;
– to develop the necessary technical and regulatory documentation in the composition of creative teams and independently, to monitor the compliance of projects with the requirements of standards, technical conditions and other normative documents in the field of construction.
